Ariana Grande is GOALS

Alicen Zschokke

To start, I have so much respect for anyone who places themself in the public eye like this. In today's day and age, with the prevalence of social media, news is transmitted almost instantly. And with the ease of sharing information comes the ridiculously low bar for "news". Ariel Winter went shopping in booty shorts??

Don't get me wrong, I love her, but that's not a headline.

It takes a lot to put yourself in the public eye and even more to own it like Ariana Grande does in "thank u, next". Naming all your exes and then proclaiming to the world that you're thankful for the relationships and what they taught you? It's a breath of fresh air in the world where passive-agressive is the norm.

She's not afraid to own who she is either. She's a strong woman who knows what she wants and what she loves and isn't afraid to show it to the world. The number of fan videos out there comparing her music video side by side shows you her dedication to making sure she's true to the media she's following. She's crazy famous in her own right, but the amount of people she got to cameo in this video is reminiscient of Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" video. (Which, the song was better without Kendrick Lamar, but I digress.)

Everything I've already said makes her incredible, but the thing that really got me was a video of her "listening party" for sweetener on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Anyone who's experienced an anxiety attack knows how horrible those are. To deal with that, regularly, and decide that you're going to turn it into a hit pop song is just so inspiring. She can be a little hard to understand, and I think everyone, her included, knows that her enunciation could improve, but when you really sit and listen to the lyrics, they're ridiculously relatable. You can head on over to the "Media" tab to see my appreciation of Imagine Dragon's nod to depression, further demonstrating my appreciation of pop destigmatizing mental illnesses.

TL;DR: Ariana Grande is an inspiring fireball of a human being and we should all strive to be like her. "Breathin" audio from her YouTube channel below.
